Dmitry Gladkov appointed as Acting Global Head of Investment Banking

Dmitry to oversee strategic development of the Firm’s investment banking franchise and key client coverage

London and Moscow, 1 October 2018 - Renaissance Capital today announced the appointment of Dmitry Gladkov as Acting Global Head of Investment Banking. In this role Dmitry will be responsible for the strategic development of the Company’s investment banking franchise and key client coverage. Dmitry will continue to lead the Firm’s Capital Markets business, remaining Global Head of Financing Group, and international, Africa and Russia team heads will report directly to him.

Dmitry Gladkov joined Renaissance Capital in 2014. He has a wealth of experience in emerging markets, having previously worked on both the origination and execution sides with JP Morgan in 2005-2014 as Managing Director in charge of Debt Capital Markets for Russia and Ukraine. Previously, in 2000-2005, Dmitry held various senior positions in the DCM area with Barclays Capital and Goldman Sachs, covering the Russian, CIS, Central and Eastern European and Turkish markets. Dmitry holds an MPhil in International Relations from St Antony’s College, Oxford University (2000), and an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics (1998).

Most recent and landmark deals of the team led by Dmitry Gladkov include: the CHF750mn international bond issue for Gazprom – the largest ever amount borrowed by an emerging markets company from EMEA markets in Swiss francs with the lowest ever coupon for an EMEA company; the EUR750mn international bond issue for Gazprom with the second-lowest coupon in euros ever achieved by a CIS borrower; the first Eurobond deal of a CIS company in 2018 for PhosAgro, one of the world’s leading producers of phosphate-based fertilizers; the $500mn international bond issue for Polyus, one of the Top-10 gold producers globally; and the $300mn international bond issue for Georgia Capital, a Georgian investment company.

Dmitry’s and his team’s achievements have been widely recognized by the market, with Renaissance Capital rated as the Top-3 arranger of Russian international placements and the Top-5 arranger of CIS international placements by Cbonds. Most recently, Renaissance Capital was named as the Most Innovative Investment Bank in Emerging Markets in 2018 by The Banker’s Investment Banking Awards. The Firm also recorded an impressive set of results in the 2018 Extel Survey for the third consecutive year, with strong placings in a range of categories for individual analysts and the Firm overall. In the 2018 Financial Mail awards for African equity research, the Firm's local team was ranked fourth, and individual analysts achieved top positions in their respective categories. The Global Finance magazine 2018 award named Renaissance Capital as the Best Bank in Frontier Markets.
