London, Johannesburg and Moscow, 18 December 2017 – Renaissance Capital, the leading emerging and frontier markets investment bank, has announced a consolidation of its Metals & Mining research franchise under the leadership of Johann Pretorius, Head of Metals & Mining Research and Head of Research for Africa, and his team.

Based in South Africa, Johann, a top-rated mining analyst with a wealth of experience in Africa and beyond, together with award-winning analysts, including Steven Friedman and Kabelo Moshesha, will be assuming responsibility for the coverage of Russian Metals & Mining stocks from Vladimir Sklyar, Director, Utilities, Metals & Mining Research.

Renaissance Capital continues to build a centre of excellence for its research, and with this in mind the Firm decided to combine Russia and EMEA M&M coverage under Johann and his team ensuring a best-in-class product for clients in the M&M space.

Johann Pretorius commented: “We have taken a decision to consolidate our Metals & Mining coverage. This will allow us to deliver comprehensive, thematic EMEA Metals & Mining sector research. We believe a consistent framework across all companies could add value to our clients. The breadth and quality of the team’s research, and our international experience should ensure that the Firm’s EMEA Metals & Mining product is highly relevant to EMEA fund managers and resource funds.”

In 2018, Renaissance Capital’s Metals & Mining research franchise will launch a new comprehensive thematic EMEA M&M research product to be issued quarterly, and will continue to issue its traditional weekly spot analysis to deliver a qualitative product to the Firm’s clients.
